Why you shouldn’t turn your older children into nannies for their younger siblings
3 Teenagers should be compensated for their time
Most teenagers are preoccupied with school, activities and their personal lives. If you hire them as you would a normal babysitter, you should pay them for their time. In another scenario, just as an elder child is expected to do household chores, looking after a younger child can also be made one of them. However timings should be agreed upon firmly. The concept is to help a family come to mutual agreement and compromise based on support and love for each other.
Parents should understand and remember that it isn’t the fault of the older child if you have decided to have more kids without contemplating the requirements and responsibilities of taking care of that kid. Except in extreme circumstances, the responsibility of taking care of a child should always be on the parents.
