Giant snakes have always been mentioned in the annals of history and you will find mentions of the many giant snakes. However in the modern period, most of the large snakes belong to the boidae and pythonidae families. Snakes like boa constrictors, pythons, anacondas are considered large as they are both heavy and long. But these snakes are not venomous, the largest venomous snake is King Cobra which can grow upto 18 feet and the heaviest venomous snake is the Gabon Viper, which weighs upto 20 kgs.
However, the longest and heaviest snakes in the world come from the Anaconda family. They can easily measure more than 25 feet and weigh in excess of 500 lbs. The second number goes to Burmese Python which can grow upto 19 feet and weigh upto 400 lbs. The Reticulated python completes the top three here with maximum length of 33 feet and weight of upto 350lbs.
